Each spring college football fans get a peak of what their favorite team will look like next fall. For Boise State, the battle for quarterback will be extremely hyped. Joe Southwick and Nick Patti are expected to duke it out for next year’s starting position.

The 5:00 P.M. start time afforded some beautiful backlight that I took advantage of.

Candidates visit Boise: Mitt Romney and Ron Paul

This past weekend I had my first experience covering this year’s presidential campaign. On Friday, Mitt Romney toured Guerdon Enterprises, a modular home factory on the outskirts of Boise. Later, Ron Paul made a last minute announcement that he would be speaking downtown at the Century Link Arena.

Romney supporters were in full force on Friday, many arriving hours early to get a front row spot.

A ladder – and approval from Secret Service – allowed for a nice overall shot encompassing a packed house of Romney’s supporters.

On Saturday, Ron Paul spoke in front of a very energetic crowd of all ages in downtown Boise.

Boise State’s basketball team is finally over .500 with a healthy roster. Last Wednesday Derrick Marks pushed the Broncos to victory over Colorado State in the final two seconds of regulation. Then, on Saturday, Anthony Drmic made a free throw with less than a second remaining to beat rivaled TCU.

This last Friday my buddy Alan and myself took a quick drive from Boise up to Lucky Peak and Arrowrock Reservoir. His white Subaru really pops against the snow covered foothills when converted to a high contrast black and white.

In the span of less than a week Boise State’s Basketball team has suffered two disappointing home losses. While almost upsetting UNLV in overtime, the Broncos are winless in the Mountain West after an ugly game against Wyoming.

This past weekend I photographed the 10th annual Beauty and the Beast competition. It’s a great event that features wrestling and gymnastics at the same time. This year, I decided to get a different angle from the balcony level in the arena while using a slow shutter speed to showcase the athlete’s impressive motion.
